About Tenzir

Tenzir is revolutionizing how enterprises address security and data infrastructure challenges with its innovative, AI-powered data pipeline, empowering builders and cyber defenders to shape, enrich, and route their security data. Our mission is to provide the critical data infrastructure that enables organizations to effectively manage and leverage their security data, protecting them from evolving threats.

We are at a pivotal stage of our journey: Our customers rely on us for their mission-critical data infrastructure, and we are seeking an exceptional Solutions Engineer to ensure our customers succeed from first contact through production deployment.

Based in Hamburg with a fully remote-friendly culture, we believe in finding the best talent regardless of location across European timezones.

The Opportunity

This is a career-defining opportunity for a hands-on engineer who loves solving real customer problems and seeing their work drive immediate impact.

As our first Solutions Engineer, you'll own the technical success of every customer engagement—from building compelling demos through POC execution to production readiness. You'll be the engineer who rolls up their sleeves, writes pipelines alongside customers, debugs integration issues in real-time, and ensures measurable value throughout the entire customer lifecycle.

Unlike a traditional Sales Engineer who focuses on the technical win, you'll go deeper: implementing solutions, building integrations, and making customers genuinely successful with our platform. You'll work directly with our founders, Account Executive, and engineering team, bridging the gap between what we sell and what customers actually deploy.

This role is perfect for someone hungry to grow into a Head of Solutions Engineering, building the foundation for how Tenzir delivers customer success at scale.

What You'll Do

POC Execution & Implementation (60%)

  • Own end-to-end POC delivery from technical scoping through successful validation

  • Deploy Tenzir in customer environments—containerized, on-prem, or cloud—adapting to their infrastructure constraints

  • Build customer pipelines using TQL (Tenzir Query Language), translating their data requirements into working solutions

  • Implement integrations with customer environments: SIEMs, data lakes, security tools, cloud platforms

  • Debug and troubleshoot alongside customers when things don't work as expected

  • Document solutions so customers can maintain and extend what you've built together

Technical Sales Support (25%)

  • Deliver technical demonstrations that showcase real solutions to real problems

  • Lead discovery conversations to understand customer data architectures and pain points

  • Build demo environments tailored to specific verticals and use cases

  • Create technical proposals that map Tenzir capabilities to customer requirements

  • Support the Account Executive as the technical expert throughout the sales cycle

Enablement & Scaling (15%)

  • Build reusable assets: pipeline templates, integration guides, troubleshooting runbooks

  • Establish POC best practices and success criteria frameworks

  • Feed insights back to engineering on product gaps and customer requirements

  • Create technical content that helps customers self-serve common integration patterns

  • Enable future hires by documenting what works and what doesn't

What We're Looking For

Must-Haves

  • 3+ years of hands-on technical experience in customer-facing implementation roles

  • Strong engineering fundamentals with real coding ability, not just scripting

  • Experience implementing data pipelines or integrations in customer environments

  • Comfort working in customer infrastructure: debugging, troubleshooting, pair-programming

  • Proven ability to translate technical complexity into clear customer guidance

  • Track record of successful POCs or implementations that drove commercial outcomes

  • Excellent professional English fluency (written and spoken)

  • Located in EU timezone with residency in the EU / a country recognized by the EU as providing an adequate level of data protection

Technical Requirements

  • Data & Streaming: Hands-on experience with data pipelines, ETL, or streaming systems (Kafka, Cribl, Logstash, Fluentd, or similar)

  • Query Languages: Proficiency in SQL plus familiarity with SPL, KQL, or similar

  • Programming: Strong Python and/or TypeScript; ability to write production-quality code

  • APIs & Integration: REST APIs, webhooks, authentication patterns, enterprise integration

  • Infrastructure: Strong Linux administration, Docker/containerization, configuration management (Ansible, Terraform), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), basic Kubernetes

  • Security Domain: Understanding of logs, SIEM concepts, common security data formats (JSON, CEF, syslog)

  • Data Formats: JSON manipulation, schema design, data normalization concepts

The Engineer We're Looking For

  • Gets satisfaction from seeing customers succeed, not just from closing deals

  • Enjoys debugging messy real-world problems more than clean theoretical ones

  • Comfortable saying "let me build that for you" and delivering same-day

  • Takes ownership of customer outcomes, not just deliverables

  • Naturally documents what they learn so others can benefit

  • Thinks about scalability: "how do I solve this once and reuse it?"

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with security tools and ecosystems (SIEM, SOAR, EDR, XDR)

  • Background in professional services, customer success engineering, or solutions consulting

  • Familiarity with OCSF or other security data schemas

  • Previous startup experience where you wore multiple hats

  • Open source contributions or community involvement

  • German language skills

What Makes This Role Special

  • Career Growth: This is the foundation for our Solutions Engineering function. You'll have the opportunity to grow into Head of Solutions Engineering as we scale.

  • Immediate Impact: Your work directly determines whether customers succeed. No abstraction layers between you and outcomes.

  • Technical Depth: Solve complex data pipeline and integration challenges across diverse customer environments.

  • Build the Playbook: Define how we deliver POCs, what success looks like, and how we scale customer implementations.

  • Customer Relationships: Build genuine partnerships with security and data engineering teams who rely on your expertise.

  • Product Influence: Your field experience directly shapes our roadmap and product direction.

  • Early-Stage Upside: Join at a pivotal inflection point with meaningful equity and growth potential.

  • Remote Flexibility: Work from anywhere in EU timezones with quarterly team meetups.

Our Solutions Philosophy

We believe the best customer outcomes come from engineers who treat customer problems as their own. You won't be handing off requirements to an implementation team or reading from scripts—you'll be the person who makes things work.

We're looking for someone who finds joy in the moment when a customer's pipeline starts flowing correctly, when an integration that seemed impossible clicks into place, when a POC delivers results that exceed expectations. You measure success not in demos delivered but in customers who go live and stay live.

As our first Solutions Engineer, you'll define what technical customer success looks like at Tenzir. You need deep enough technical skills to implement complex solutions, and enough customer empathy to understand what customers actually need versus what they initially ask for.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: €60,000 - €100,000 (based on experience and location)

  • Equity: Meaningful early-stage equity participation in our Virtual Share Option Program (VSOP)

  • Remote Work: Full flexibility within EU timezones

  • Employment Model: Candidates based in Germany will be employed directly. Candidates based outside Germany will work with us as independent contractors

  • Equipment: Provided for employees; BYOD for independent contractors

  • Team Building: Quarterly in-person meetups in Hamburg or rotating EU cities, plus one annual company-wide retreat bringing the entire team together

Interview Process

  1. Initial Call (30 min) - Meet our VP Sales

  2. Technical Interview (90 min) - Code review, architecture discussion, and live problem-solving with our founder

  3. Team Fit (30 min) - Open discussion HR representative

Reference check and final offer conclude the process.

Total process: typically 2-3 weeks
