Tenzir Expands Advisory Board with Former Head of Siemens CERT
Hamburg, DE, April 26, 2021 — Tenzir, provider of the industry’s first open security analytics platform, has welcomed Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Schreck, former Head of Siemens CERT, to the company’s advisory board, adding a new perspective deeply anchored in operational excellence and thought leadership.
“Thomas is an incredible person who embodies academic and operational excellence in a unique fashion,” said CEO of Tenzir, Matthias Vallentin, PhD. “He spent 12 years securing Europe’s largest manufacturing conglomerate. Thomas knows what works and what doesn’t, at scale. His deep passion for advancing the state is inspiring. I am thrilled to have him join our team.”
Schreck serves on the Board of Directors at the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), the premier organization and recognized global leader in incident response. Between 2017 and 2019 he was also the Chairman of the organization.
“The complexity to detect recent adversarial behaviour is increasing and new technologies are necessary in order to improve the resilience of organizations”, said Schreck. “Here I see that Tenzir has a perfect solution that is able to solve the hard security problems for organizations. Due to their openness, they are highly customizable for different environments—critical for today’s IT networks.”
“I am excited to share my knowledge with one of Europe’s most innovative companies who is pushing the boundary on high-performance security analytics,” he added. His current research areas include cyber threat intelligence, attack detection and analysis, as well as modern incident response.
With its academic roots at the University of California, Berkeley, Tenzir has focused since its inception on solving the most challenging problems of detection and response at scale by bringing together a scientific mindset with precision engineering to promote an open and data-centric approach to threat investigation.
