Tenzir Secures €2.5 Million in Seed Financing Round
Hamburg, DE, December 13, 2021 — Tenzir, a data-driven security operations platform provider, today announced that it has raised €2.5 million in Series Seed investment led by German cybersecurity investor eCAPITAL.
By providing IT organizations and cyber-defenders with a mission-critical, distributed, security data platform, Tenzir revolutionizes the way cyber security data is operationalized at scale. Tenzir processes massive amounts of telemetry and threat data while breaking down silos between security solutions. “For over a decade I worked on the technology during my PhD at UC Berkeley. Now the timing is perfect to disrupt the siloed security industry with an open data engineering mindset,” said Matthias Vallentin, CEO and Co-Founder of Tenzir.
Tenzir instruments organizations with a highly composable, open platform to run complex workloads and move from orchestration to choreography. With an open and distributed architecture, Tenzir will be first in enabling truly federated edge security, delivering detection and response as outcomes of a well-architected distributed system rather than a single technology.
As of this financing round, seasoned industry veteran Mark Mastrangeli (former McAfee, Intel) joins Tenzir’s leadership as Chief Product and Revenue Officer. In this role, Mastrangeli will be responsible for product strategy and entering the US market. Prior to that, he was the lead architect for McAfee’s technology alliance program. His own experience of managing more than a hundred proprietary vendor integrations led him to co-found the Open Cybersecurity Alliance (OCA) with IBM to establish interoperability standards and will continue to serve as co-chair of the OCA Project Governing Board.
“Mark brings a unique experience in market understanding combined with visionary thinking, which is instrumental to embed Tenzir as infrastructure technology in a fragmented space,” said Matthias Vallentin. “As we deploy our technology in the most complex environments, Mark’s leadership will be instrumental in shaping an ecosystem of composable security solutions.”
eCAPITAL’s focus in deep tech cybersecurity is highly aligned with Tenzir’s DNA. “Security operators fight with dozens of different cyber security tools today that hold data in silos and barely interoperate. Security infrastructure must be re-thought,” said Dirk Seewald, Partner at eCAPITAL. “We are amazed by the positive feedback from Tenzir‘s first production customers about the open architecture and the dramatic increase in operating efficiency of their analysts. Tenzir’s technological excellence with field-proven customer and solution management convinced us to become part of a big cybersecurity winner.”
